We had a great time making our monsters today! A shout out goes out to Mrs. Simon and Mrs. Jones for making yummy and inventive monster treats. Also, a big thank you to the Herbig family for sending in juice pouches and chips. We will finish up our monsters and write our final copies on Monday.
Field Trips: The field trip to Brattonsville will take place October 27th. We plan to leave at 8:30 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. I will give you more details next week. Your next payment of $95 is due November 13th.
Boosterthon: Due to the ongoing efforts by the LCE family to meet the immediate and significant needs of the greater Columbia community, we have decided to reschedule our Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser that was to take place later this month. Please mark your calendars for January 13th for our kick-off pep rally and January 22nd for the Fun Run. We will provide more information closer to those dates.
Student Council: Congratulations to Olivia Packer and Johnnie Jenkins from Flores homeroom, and Ava Woods and Anthony Barrett from Rojas' homeroom for winning the student council elections. Our alternates are Laci Mathews, Savannah Jones, Brian Grieve and Kirk Perry. All students who ran earned House points for using initiative and courage!
Chorus Performance: The chorus performance will be next Tuesday, Oct. 20th at 6:30, but your child will need to be here dressed and in the classroom at 6:00 p.m. Thank you!
A Sneak Peek Next Week:
Writing: We are finishing up our monster writing, and I will take that up for a grade.
Spelling: The students will take their first spelling test with the words from the yellow envelopes.Your child will be given 20 of the words, plus five new words that have the same patterns of the sort.
Reading: We will work on finding cause and effect relationships in texts.
Science: We will analyze weather patterns for October and learn the properties of weather.
Class Outing: I am going to share a survey with you about going to see Goosebumps as a class outing. It will be optional and totally just for fun!
